Allegro MicroSystems' A4979 is a flexible microstepping motor driver IC with built-in translator for easy operation. It is a single-chip solution, designed to operate bipolar stepper motors in full-, half-, quarter- and sixteenth-step modes, at up to 50 V and 1.5 A. This device represents the next generation in the family of high voltage stepper motor drivers. It is intended to provide a feature rich replacement for the A3987 while also maintaining simple control options (step/direction).
