***AS USD: The bq25708 is a synchronous NVDC battery buck-boost charge controller, offering low component count, high efficiency solution for space-constraint, multi-chemistry battery charging applications.

***INS: The NVDC-1 configuration allows the system to be regulated at battery voltage, but not drop below system minimum voltage. The system keeps operating even when the battery is completely discharged or removed. When load power exceeds input source rating, the battery goes into supplement mode and prevents the system from crashing.

***AS INTRUMENTS: The bq25708 charges battery from a wide range of input sources including USB adapter, high voltage USB PD sources and traditional adapters.

***AS INST: During power up, the charger sets converter to buck, boost or buck-boost configuration based on input source and battery conditions. The charger automatically transits among buck, boost and buck-boost configuration without host control.

***AS INTRUMENTS: The bq25708 monitors adapter current, battery current and system power. The flexibly programmed PROCHOT output goes directly to CPU for throttle back when needed.

BQ25708 SMBus Buck-Boost Charge Controllers: OMO Electronic BQ25708 SMBus Multi-Chemistry Battery Buck-Boost Charge Controllers are an NVDC (narrow voltage DC) controller designed for multi-chemistry portable applications. The BQ25708 provides a low component count and supports a wide range of power sources, including USB PD ports, legacy USB ports, traditional ACDC adapters, and more. The device allows a seamless transition between converter operation modes (buck, boost, or buck-boost), fast transient response, and high light load efficiency. The charger sets the converter to buck, boost or buck-boost configuration based on input source and battery conditions during power up. The Dynamic Power Management (DPM) feature limits the input power and avoids the AC adapter overloading. An additional feature includes programmed comprehensive PROCHOT profile output that goes directly to the CPU for throttle back as required.
