Allegro MicroSystems' ALS31313 is a highly versatile, low power, automotive grade, 3D linear Hall effect sensor IC with I2C output and advanced low power management features designed to allow easy optimization of sensor performance and power consumption at the system level.
The ALS31313 provides 12-bit digital outputs that are proportional to the magnetic field strength present along each of the X, Y, and Z axes and is suitable for 1D, 2D, or 3D linear position sensing as well as 2D angle or rotational position applications. The ALS31313 is available with four different factory-programmed sensing ranges: ±500 G, ±1000 G, and ±2000 G, and a specialized joystick version with ±2000 G (X and Y axes)/±8000 G (Z axis). This sensor has a 2.65 V to 3.5 V voltage supply range and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
Power management of the ALS31313 is highly configurable and includes event-driven interrupt modes enabling wake-on motion capability. This event-driven interrupt mode reduces system-level power consumption by allowing the microcontroller and other peripherals to remain in the lowest power state when the system is not in use. In the lowest power sleep mode, the ALS31313 consumes just 14 nA (typical), making this sensor well suited for low power, portable, and battery-operated applications.
The ALS31313 has been designed for use in automotive human interface controls, robotics, white goods, and industrial applications. This sensor incorporates an I2C interface with up to 127 unique addresses for easy integration into a wide variety of systems and allowing for multiple devices to be connected on the same bus.
It is supplied in an 8-lead TSSOP package (LE). This small footprint package is lead- (Pb-) free with 100% matte-tin lead-frame plating.
